Acting Police Commissioner Stephen Williams is expected to make a statement soon on the robbery of a Chinese couple, allegedly committed by police officers. Speaking during yesterday’s police news briefing at the Police Administration Building, Port-of-Spain, Supt Joanne Archie said the file on the investigation was completed by the Police Professional Standards Unit and submitted to Williams for review.
It was reported last week Wednesday that Danny and Yvonne Owu, who own a casino and restaurant, alleged that officers of the Northern Division entered their home in Arouca on claims that they were looking for someone, who they suspected was staying there illegally. It is believed that the said officers robbed the couple of about $.5 million.
