A Claxton Bay man who allegedly stole 39 air conditioning units, valued at more than $100,000, from his work place apologised when he appeared in court yesterday.
Technician Abdul Ali, 23, told San Fernando Sixth Court Magistrate Natalie Diop that he was “sorry” for his actions.
Ali, who was arrested at his San Fernando work place on Tuesday, is accused of stealing the units from West Indian Logistics Ltd at Rushworth Street, San Fernando, between January 1 and May 5.
Detective Hosein of Central Major Crimes Unit laid the charge.
However, Ali was not asked to enter a plea to the charge.
Magistrate Diop told Ali, who did not have an attorney, he did not have to say anything about the offence.
In answer to the magistrate, he said he never had any matters in court and was expecting his first baby in December.
Prosecutor Sgt Chanardath Jhilmit did not object to bail.
Ali was granted $50,000 bail and the matter was transferred to the First Court for June 3.
Indigo Vialva, 30, also appeared before Diop charged with uttering a forged document.
The charge against her alleged that on May 2 at the Mon Repos Police Station she uttered a forged insurance policy.
Vialva’s attorney Annalee Girwar asked for a variation for bail.
She said a clerk of the peace granted Vialva $40,000 bail on the previous day.
She said Vialva has two children, lives in Pleasantville and was employed as a manager.
The magistrate granted Vialva $20,000 bail or alternatively cash bail in the sum of $10,000.
The matter was adjourned to June 3.
