Former champions Glamorgan paced by six senior national senior women’s team players headed by Darlene Ramdin and Jalicia Ross-Kydd have made an impressive 3-0 start to their T&T Volleyball Federation Women’s Premier Division  2014/2015 season. Three matches into the season, the Glamorgan line-up which also features national players Kaylon Cruickshank, Sakile Grannum, Malika York and Marisha Herbert has so far defeated West Side Stars 3-1, Southern United Volleyball Academy (SUVA) 3-0 and the understrength former champions, University of T&T, (3-0) for 14 points from a possible 15.

However, Glamorgan still trails on the six-team round-robin table by one point leaders Technocrats who have a 3-1 record for 16 points. This after Technocrats which has the experienced senior national pair of captain Kelly-Anne Billingy and Renele Forde in its ranks having defeated UTT 3-1, West Side Stars 3-0, and South East Port-of-Spain (SEPoS) 3-0 while they went under to third placed Southern United Volleyball Academy (SUVA), 2-3 in its lone loss. SUVA featuring Rheeza Grant and Nadiege Honore is third with 13 points and a 3-1 mark as well, after wins over SEPoS and West Side Stars, both by 3-0 margins. The three remaining teams, UTT (1-2), SEPoS (0-3) and West Side Stars (0-3) are fourth, fifth and sixth on the table with five, one and one point respectively. At the end of the two rounds of round-robin matches, the top four teams will meet in cross-over best of three semifinal playoffs  from which the winners meet in a one-of championship match.

SEPoS men hold slim edge
Big South East Port-of-Spain (SEPoS) led by national senior team trio Nolan Tash, Brandon Legal and Darnel David has a 3-1 mark, the same as Technocrats to lead the Men’s Premier Division by a point. SEPoS has 14 points from a wins over Toco Youths (3-0), Technocrats (3-2) and Zenith (3-1) while it was beaten by Glamorgan, 2-3. A point behind in second spot is the star-studded Technocrats squad comprising national spikers Sean Morrison, Kevin Nimrod, Newton Grant, Nicholas Prescott and last year’s Senior Caribbean Zonal Volleyball Association Championship, Most Valuable Player Simon Blake.

This after Technocrats won its first three matches, against Technocrats (3-1), Southern United Volleyball Academy (3-2) and Zenith (3-1). Glamorgan which has national setter, Saleem Ali, former France-based Ryan Stewart and Kwesi Daniel on its roster is third with a 2-1 record and nine points followed by Southern United (six), Toco Youths (five) and Zenith (three). At the end of the two rounds of round-robin matches, the top four teams will meet in cross-over best of three semifinal playoffs  from which the winners meet in a one-of championship match.
